I am currently a student in the Post- Baccalaureate Education Master’s program at the University of Mary Washington. I will complete all of my professional studies requirements by July 2015, with the exception of the student internship. In the Fall of 2015, I will complete my graduate course requirements and I will officially complete the program in May of 2016. In order to gain experience while I am still in school, I have obtained employment in the education field. This has given me invaluable experience with various age groups, developing strong parental relations, and an understanding of administrative needs in the classroom setting. As a part of my course work, I volunteered for the Hungry Brains Homework Program at the Hazel Hill Apartment Complex. This experience helped me gain insight into differentiating instruction, teaching multiple content areas, and the importance of patience. I have also held a position as a camp counselor. This position taught me the importance of advanced preparation, flexibility, and collaboration. Currently, I hold a position in corporate daycare. This experience has given me opportunities to understand developmentally appropriate content, along with a variety of classroom management skills. Through these experiences, I have gained the qualities that make me a respectable candidate for a teaching position.
